Liz Lisa size chart: what “free size” measures in cm, by item
On the official Japanese store, every Liz Lisa item we checked in October 2026 was sold in one “Free” size. For dresses that means a flat width of 45–49 cm and a waist that stretches to a maximum of 83.5–97 cm. The numbers differ from item to item by a few centimetres, so the product page matters more than the label.
“Free size” tells you nothing on its own. This page turns it into centimetres for each kind of garment, explains the two-number waist measurement, and shows a three-step way to check a piece against clothes you already own. For ordering from outside Japan, see the Liz Lisa buying guide; for the brand’s overall profile, see the Liz Lisa brand page.
The size chart by item
Flat width times two gives the garment’s circumference. A dress at 45–49 cm wide is 90–98 cm around the chest. Larger numbers mean a roomier piece.
These ranges come from the product pages of items on sale on the official Japanese store, Tokyo Kawaii Life, on 3 October 2026: 66 items in total, every one in Free size. Dresses and pinafores (jumper skirts) cover 7 items; blouses, knits, skirts and coats cover 12 items each. Sets sold as a top and bottom together are left out, because their numbers are split.
| Item | Length | Width (flat) | Shoulder | Waist: relaxed (max stretch) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dress / pinafore | 71–84 cm | 45–49 cm | 34–36 cm | 61–66 cm (83.5–97 cm) |
| Blouse | 49.5–57 cm | 41–49 cm | 32–34 cm | — |
| Knit | 44–66.5 cm | 37–54 cm | 26.5–33.5 cm | — |
| Skirt / skort | 37.5–45.5 cm | — | — | 58.5–65 cm (79–103 cm) |
| Coat | 45–87 cm | 47–49 cm | 34.5–38 cm | — |
Two notes on the table. Some knits have a dropped shoulder line, listed at 51.5–57 cm, and those are excluded from the shoulder range. And these are ranges across a season’s stock, not a promise for any one piece.
Reading the “max waist” figure
“Waist 65 cm (max 91 cm)” means the elastic measures 65 cm relaxed and 91 cm pulled fully taut. The elastic never goes past the max figure, so a garment pulled to that point is at its limit.
Most Liz Lisa dresses and skirts have an elastic waist, so the measurement line gives two numbers:
- The first number: the waist in its relaxed state.
- The max number: the waist with the elastic stretched as far as it goes.
The max figure varies a lot. Skorts on the Japanese store ranged from 79 cm to 103 cm at full stretch — a difference of 24 cm inside the same “Free” label. Always read the waist line on the specific item.
What to check on each type of item
Dresses: width and max waist. Blouses and knits: shoulder. Skirts: max waist. Coats: the gap to whatever you wear underneath.
Dresses and pinafores
Width varies little (45–49 cm) while max waist varies a lot (83.5–97 cm), so filter by max waist first. As an example of how a listing is written, one dress on sale in October 2026 was Free size at 80 cm long, 46 cm wide and a 66 cm waist stretching to 97 cm, priced at ¥18,480 including tax (the top of the waist range above). It has a full, voluminous skirt. Two of its three colourways were sold out when we checked; prices and stock change, so check the current page.
Blouses and knits
Blouse shoulders cluster at 32–34 cm. Lay a blouse of yours flat and compare. For knits, look at the photo as well as the number: a dropped shoulder seam changes the listed shoulder width a great deal.
Skirts and skorts
Max waist is the number that decides fit. Length is 37.5–45.5 cm, so these are short.
Coats
Coat width is 47–49 cm, only slightly more than a dress. If you plan to wear it over puffed sleeves or a thick knit, compare its width with that garment, not with your body.
Compare with a garment you already own
The most reliable method is to compare against a piece that fits you well now, not against a size label.
- Pick one garment that fits you comfortably, of the same kind as the item you want (a dress for a dress).
- Lay it flat and measure. Width is armpit to armpit across the front; length is from the highest point of the shoulder to the hem.
- Put your numbers next to the product page. As a rough rule of thumb, if width, shoulder and waist are within 2–3 cm, expect a similar fit. Add a little ease to your own number if you like a looser fit, since a garment’s width is larger than the body inside it.
Fit is personal and the figures above are a guide, not a guarantee. Japanese brands list measurements in centimetres rather than US or UK sizes, and this page gives no conversion; use the cm figures. For measuring yourself, see the size guide.
FAQ
Does Liz Lisa make M or L sizes?
On the Japanese store, all 66 items we checked on 3 October 2026 listed Free as the only size. The brand’s international storefront may list its catalogue differently, so read the size field on each product page.
Is there a TALL size?
The store has a “TALL SIZE” search link, but no items showed under it on 3 October 2026. If length matters, compare the listed length against a dress of yours.
Can I return an item that doesn’t fit?
Rules on the Japanese store: items marked “return/exchange OK” can be returned or exchanged only if paid by credit card or Amazon Pay, with a request made within 10 days of receipt. The item must be unworn and tagged, and return shipping is paid by the customer. The store ships within Japan only, and defect returns are accepted only for customers living in Japan. If you are ordering from overseas, check the return policy of the specific store or forwarding service you use before you buy.
In short
Liz Lisa’s Free size means roughly 45–49 cm of flat width on a dress, with a waist that stretches to somewhere between 83.5 and 97 cm. Look at the max waist for dresses and skirts, the shoulder for blouses and knits, and always measure a garment of your own for comparison.
